The complex of equipment for studying
behaviour of various materials at high pressures
and temperatures

Extreme
Pressure DAC
Laboratory

The complex includes:
1. The shear diamond anvil cell.
2. The installation of pressure and heating measurement of a tested sample in the DAC in situ.
3. The automatic X-ray diffractometer.
4. Auxiliaries and technologies.

The description and characteristics.

The automatic shear diamond anvil cell (SDAC).

The SDAC is intended for creation in a tested sample:
- static pressure up to 100GPà;
- shear deformations;
- hydrostatic conditions of pressing by using gasket;
- not hydrostatic conditions of pressing with a gradient of pressure;
- heating up to 2500Ê;
- opportunities carrying out optical, spectroscopic and x-ray researches of a sample in the SDAC in situ.
The SDAC allows:
- to work completely in an automatic mode on a command from a computer;
- to measure of a loading of a tested sample;
- to measure of a shear deformations;
- to measure of a tested sample thickness during loading with accuracy of 1 micron;
- to control of adjusting itself during loading with accuracy of 1 angle minute.
Advantages over analogues.
For the first time the DAC has been created which allows to work at an automatic mode, to measure of a loading, a shear deformations, a tested sample thickness and to control of adjusting itself during loading. The SDAC is especially good by X-ray researches as loading and shear of a tested sample in DAC in situ are can do distantly.

The installation of pressure and heating measurement
of a tested sample in the DAC in situ.

The installation allows:
- to measure of sample pressure on a ruby scale;
- to measure of pressure distribution with step of 5-10 microns on a tested sample surface at an automatic mode;
- to carry out a laser heating of sample up to 2500Ê;
- to measure of heated sample temperature;
- to measure of temperature distribution by the sample diameter with step of 10 microns.

The automatic X-ray diffractometer.

The diffractometer is developed on the basis of usual diffractometer by DRON type. It is intended for studying of structural transformations in a tested sample at high pressure in the DAC in situ at an automatic mode.
Advantages over analogues.
For the first time it was managed to obtain of diffractometer recording of small samples of 100-500 microns in diameter by using an usual X-ray tube by the capacity no more than 2.5 kW during measurement of 20-30 minutes at wide range diffraction angles.

Auxiliaries and technologies.

1. The diamond anvils.
- the birefringence measurement device;
- the DA parameters measurement device.
2. The preparation gaskets device.
3. The preparation of fine-dispersed powdery samples.

Sphere of application of the complex.

The complex of the equipment can be used for obtaining of new phase conditions of materials with unique properties, optimization and modelling of technological processes especially at synthesis of superhard materials and studying structural transformations in various materials at a high pressure and temperature.
