A well-known expert in Mechanics and Materials Science, who has contributed to the calculations of mechanical vibrations in turbines, assessment of the strength and failure prediction of processing equipment and space systems at extremely low cryogenic temperatures. He has made important contributions to the development of synthesis of diamond and other superhard materials, deposition and studying properties of diamond and diamond-like films. |
Prof. N.V. Novikov is the author and co-author of more than 500 scientific
papers and 18 books, including "Mechanical Testing of Structural Materials
at Low Temperatures" (1974), "Cold in Mechanical Engineering" (1969, 1977),
"Strength of Materials and Construction Components under Extreme Conditions"
(1980), "Diamond Synthesis" (1987 (in Russian), 1993 (in Japanese)), "Physical
Properties of Diamond" (1987 (in Russian), 1993 (in Japanese)), "Polymorphous
Modifications of Carbon and Boron Nitride" (1994), as well as of more than 110
patents.
